ST 2110-30 Network Capabilities for Our Products

Overview of the general update on ST 2110-30 and AES67 functionality based on Dante and Ravenna Technology.

ST 2110-30 Audio over IP connectivity is now available via firmware upgrades for our best-in-class audio interfaces, including the Thunder | Core series, Penta series, AX32, Dante/AES67 Card with free corresponding updates to the DADman control software. The updates also support our new Ravenna/AES67/ST 2110 Card. This expansion of network capabilities enables solutions with our products, making them more compatible with IP Ethernet Audio Formats and therefore more flexible, capable, and easy to use in a variety of applications.

In the following, functionality and new capabilities are listed.

Penta and AX32 series

Penta 720, Penta 721s and AX32, can optionally be installed with a 64 ch. Dante Brooklyn 3 module or the older Brooklyn II module as well as I/O Cards. The firmware update for Brooklyn 3 support unmanaged ST 2110-30 and the Brooklyn II module support ST 2110-30 in managed mode.

In managed mode the Audinate Dante Domain Manager (DDM) is needed to manage the functionality as well as network domains in general, in unmanaged mode the configuration is done via Audinates Dante Controller.

Thunder | Core series

AX64, AX Center and Core 256 have a native 256 ch. Dante interface The firmware update for native Dante support managed ST 2110-30.

In managed mode the Audinate Dante Domain Manager (DDM) is needed to manage the ST 2110 functionality as well as network domains in general.

Ravenna/AES67/ST 2110 Card

Card-Ravenna has a 128 ch. Ravenna interface with support for AES67 and ST 2110-30. The Card-Ravenna provides compatibility for Ravenna, AES67 and ST 2110-30 with other Ravenna-based AoIP products, and is unmanaged once configured with eg, the Merging ANEMAN cross platform & cross vendor Audio Network Manager or other industry compatible configuration tools.

Dante/AES67 Card

Card-Dante has a 128 ch. Dante interface with sample rate conversion. The firmware update for the Dante card support managed ST 2110-30.

In managed mode the Audinate Dante Domain Manager (DDM) is needed to manage the ST 2110 functionality as well as network domains in general.

Expanded Infrastructure and Technical Integration

Beyond the core compatibility updates, these interfaces serve as a high-capacity bridge between any professional audio format. This is made possible by an internal routing matrix that handles up to 2,048 x 2,048 non-blocking connections, allowing any input to be directed to any output regardless of the interface’s actual hardware configuration. This routing architecture operates with a fixed internal latency of only 7 samples, ensuring that phase alignment is maintained perfectly across all signals, whether they are traveling between AoIP, digital, or analogue ports.

For complex broadcast environments, the system supports dynamic routing with a switch time of just one sample. This enables the hardware to function as a real-time format converter between different IP audio configurations on separate networks, such as bridging Ravenna and Dante environments. These workflows are managed through the DADman software or via hardware interfaces like the Junior panel or the SW-P-08 control protocol.

The technical implementation of these standards provides deep control over network synchronization and stream parameters. The Ravenna solution utilizes PTPv2 (IEEE-1588-2008) and provides full support for NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 for discovery and connection management. On the Dante side, users can configure ST 2110-30 RTP flow parameters, including configurable payload IDs and encoding, while also importing third-party System Description Data (SDP). Both platforms support a wide range of conformance levels, including 48 kHz under levels A, B, and C, as well as high-resolution 96 kHz support via the AX profile.

Finally, professional monitoring is integrated directly into this routing ecosystem through the Pro | Mon functionality. This includes a 64-channel bus summing system that can be configured to fit any required audio format or channel layout. For engineers who require physical interaction, the MOM monitor controller provides tactile access to these monitoring configurations, ensuring that even the most complex network routing remains intuitive to manage.

Dante, AES67 and ST 2110-30

The Dante AoIP solution provides a system for audio connectivity on IP Ethernet including AES67 and ST-2110-30. Unmanaged configuration, audio patching and control are done using the Dante Controller software provided by Audinate. Depending on the Dante implementation in the Audio Interface some functionally require management provided by the Dante Domain Manager Software (DDM).
